Commonwealth Games 2026

Voices of the Commonwealth is a community media project led by Awaz FM, Scotland’s only South Asian community radio station. The project will take place across Glasgow during the 2026 Commonwealth Games, bringing people together to share stories, celebrate cultures, and give a voice to communities that are often not heard in mainstream media.

From 23rd July to 2nd August 2026 - During the Games, Awaz FM Team will work from an outdoor studio near event venues, creating live radio shows, interviewing athletes and visitors, and capturing real community experiences.

Second, a radio and online series called “Commonwealth Stories” will explore topics like migration, youth voices, women in sport, disability inclusion, and culture. These programmes will include music, discussions, and stories shared in different languages.

This project helps people connect, feel included, and celebrate their identity. It supports fairness by allowing communities to tell their own stories in their own voices.

The project will also create a lasting impact by building skills, forming new partnerships, and sharing community stories online for future generations.
